From shipping times to sizing the Sock Machine, here is what new and returning customers ask before, during, and after an order.
Getting your order to your door
How long does shipping take?
Most US orders ship within 1 to 2 business days and arrive within 3 to 7 business days after that, depending on your location. You will get a tracking link by email as soon as it ships.
Is shipping really free?
Yes. Any order over $50 ships free within the US. Smaller orders have a flat shipping rate calculated at checkout.
Do you ship internationally?
Right now we ship within the United States only. We are working on expanding, so check back if you are outside the US.
My tracking has not updated in days, what should I do?
Carriers occasionally go quiet for a day or two mid-transit, which is normal. If tracking has not moved in more than 5 business days, reach out through our contact page and we will look into it.
What you are actually getting
Where do your materials come from?
Most of what we carry comes from small, independent suppliers who focus on a handful of products rather than thousands. We test everything ourselves before it goes in the shop.
The photos show one color, will mine look exactly the same?
We do our best to photograph true to color, but monitors vary and natural fibers can have slight batch differences. If something arrives noticeably different from the listing, let us know and we will make it right.
Are your tools beginner-friendly?
Yes. We choose products that hold up for beginners and experienced makers alike, and many listings include notes on skill level right in the description.
Do you sell yarn by the dye lot?
Where dye lots matter, we note it in the product description. If you need multiple skeins from the same lot for a larger project, message us before ordering and we will check what we have on hand.
Before you cast on
What sock sizes can the Sock Machine make?
With the included needles, the machine knits adult sizes from roughly women's 6 through men's 12, depending on your yarn weight and tension. The illustrated guide includes a sizing chart to help you dial it in.
Do I need special yarn for the Sock Machine?
Fingering and DK weight yarns give the best results. Avoid very textured, fuzzy, or boucle yarns since they can catch on the needles.
What if a needle breaks?
Replacement needles are available in our shop, and the illustrated guide includes a short video link on swapping one out. It takes a couple of minutes once you have done it the first time.
Can kids use the Sock Machine?
It is a great project for older kids with adult supervision, especially for the cranking and yarn feeding. The needle bed has small moving parts, so younger children should not use it unsupervised.

What is your return policy?
We offer easy 30-day returns on unused, unopened items. See our Returns page for the full details and how to start one.
My order arrived damaged, what now?
Contact us with a photo of the item and packaging and we will send a replacement or refund right away. No need to send anything back first.
Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?
If your order has not shipped yet, contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to update or cancel it. Once it has shipped, our standard returns process is the easiest path.
Do you offer exchanges for a different size or color?
Yes, within 30 days of delivery. The easiest way is to start a return for the original item and place a new order for the one you want, so the replacement does not wait on the return to arrive.
